I remember the first time we met Dr. Laura. It was before she moved to SiriusXM and was on terrestrial radio with her national show. Our challenge was: could we promote a software product outside of tech shows and appeal to a tech-savvy consumer crowd? Long story short, we did, and quite successfully for many years.
My colleague Jocelyn and I went over to Dr. Laura’s house in Santa Barbara where she broadcasts from, and it was the beginning of a great partnership and to opening GoToMyPC’s “remote access” technology to a much wider audience.
First, we had to make sure that our radio host understood the technology and could put it into consumer vocabulary for her audience. After our preso and demo, Dr Laura sat back in deep thought, there was a l-o-n-g pause. Then said, “Just how email has changed communication, GoToMyPC will change the way we work while we balance our lives.” This was profound and spot on.
We developed scripts about “Work-Life Balance”, spending more time with family while still being productive in your work. Not missing your child’s ballgame or recital allowing you to be there and then finish up your work later at home connecting to your office. This really rolled out in phases over the years and, of course, was hyper-accelerated in 2020.
So the way we work is that we partner with audio show hosts to get our clients product solutions messaged in a way an audience can understand and see the value to them in their working, and personal lives. We do this really, really well.
